Overview of snowshoeing, skating and cross-country skiing

The perfect place to see the vast majority of sports and the energy overflowing from the transition zone!

The snowshoeing/skating/cross-country skiing course

Due to the mild temperatures of winter 2024, the Sun Life 2024 Pentathlon des neiges team had to completely change its courses less than a few days before the event, condensing the routes on the Grande Plaine des Plaines d’Abraham, where you are currently located. With almost 100% satisfaction from participants, the 2025 edition returns in force with the same course, which was the fruit of an improvised solution. Enjoy the view from this terrace, where binoculars are at your disposal.

Active station

Check out snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and skating, and stay warm by doing 10 vertical jumps!

Did you know that?

Since 1845, when the Quebec Snowshoe Club was founded, the Plains of Abraham have been a popular gathering point for snowshoers. During the heyday of snowshoe clubs, from the 1880s to the 1960s, each club had its own uniform, colors and song. There were great group outings to enjoy the winter. The most athletic would meet in organized races, and the fastest would be crowned!

Cross-country skiing was popularized in Quebec City in the late 19th and early 20th centuries by Norwegians.  The Plains soon came to be regarded as one of the best places around Quebec City for this activity. The first three groomed trails were inaugurated in the winter of 1986-1987.

Meet up at Point 4, as the runners arrive, to watch the athletes complete their challenge.

Don’t forget to take a photo before you leave at Point 4!
